Grossinger leads Tiger sweep in 200-yard breaststroke
Freshman Tom Grossinger knocked 3.5 seconds off his own school record while leading Colorado College to a 1-2-3 finish in the 200-yard breaststroke on the final day of the 2008 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday in Dallas, Texas.
Grossinger’s winning time of 2:10.54 was just .34 seconds ahead of Andrew Mullen.
Mullen and Tyler Fox, who finished third in a time of 2:12.72, both finished ahead of the previous record of 2:14.04.
Adkins also took third in the 100 butterfly for his third top-three finish of the meet.
Asher Weinberg took fifth place in the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:59.76, while Adkins, Mullen, Weinberg and Fox teamed up to finish fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.
The CC men set five individual school records and two a pair of relay marks during the three-day event.
The Tigers finished the championships in fifth place with 473 points, 100 ahead of Rhodes College. DePauw University won the men’s title with 877.5 points.
