Hunter Combs, who posted career highs of 36 goals and 43 points during the 2008 season, was named an honorable mention All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Combs is the fifth player in the program's history to earn All-America honors.

Last weekend, he became third Colorado College player to participate in the USILA Division III North-South All-Star game, joining Paul Lastayo (1984) and Tom Sulger (1985).

CC's co-captain collected at least one point in every game and finished the season by scoring at least one goal in 12 consecutive outings as the Tigers concluded the season with a 9-5 record, the most victories for the program since an 11-4 mark in 1998. Colorado College also finished the campaign with a four-game winning streak, it's longest since 2001.

“Hunter is very deserving of this honor,” said head coach David Zazzaro. “He had a tremendous year for us. He stepped up in and performed great in all of our critical moments this season.”

In his final home appearance, Combs had a hand in eight goals as Colorado College defeated West Region rival Whittier College, 9-7. He scored a season-high six and added a pair of assists to finish with a career-best eight points.

The product of Denver's East High School began the season with four goals and two assists as the Tigers upset then No. 15-ranked Washington & Lee University, 15-11.

“It's great to see Hunter recognized as one of the top seniors in the country,” Zazzaro said. “Having Hunter representing Colorado College in this game is great for our program.”

The North-South Senior All-Star Game was played at Harvard Stadium on Friday, May 23, as part of a tripleheader featuring the Division III and Division II games, followed by a Major League lacrosse game between the Boston Cannons and Rochester Rattlers.
