Already the recipient of numerous post-season accolades, Colorado College's
Jack Hillen has added yet another honor to his list.
The All-America defenseman and WCHA Defensive Player of the Year, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics earlier this week, on Thursday was named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® University Division At-Large All-District VII Team as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
By virtue of his first-team selection at the district level, Hillen now advances to the ballot for Academic All-America recognition.
Hillen, whose 37 points (6g,31a) in 2007-08 led all blue-line specialists nationwide, signed a professional contract with the New Islanders after Colorado College's season ended and made his NHL debut on April 3. As a senior this season, he was recipient of the WCHA's prestigious Scholar Athlete Award in addition to earning a spot on the league's All-Academic Team.
