Tigers set to finally resume action

CC plays host to Minnesota State this weekend

Well rested and invigorated after a three-week layoff from competition, Colorado College ushers in the 2009 portion of its season this weekend with a two-game WCHA series at home against Minnesota State University.

Faceoff at the World Arena is 7:37 p.m. MST Friday and 7:07 p.m. MST Saturday.

The Tigers, whose modest three-game undefeated streak (2-0-1) is their longest since starting the season at 5-0-3, currently are tied for third in the league standings, just three points behind front-running and arch-rival Denver with 14 games remaining. They're 11-6-5 overall, including a 7-5-2 mark in WCHA play.

CC last played on Dec. 19 and 20, skating to a 2-2 tie and 7-0 victory against Sacred Heart University in a pair of non-conference games at home.

Minnesota State, 9-9-3 overall after snapping a six-game losing streak with last Saturday's 4-3 non-conference triumph over Nebraska-Omaha, is seventh in the WCHA standings with a 5-7-2 mark in league play.      

The Tigers are tied for No. 10 in the latest national rankings published by USCHO.com/CBS College Sports, and are No. 12 in the latest poll conducted by USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine.
