Jackson Brainerd was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Runner of the Week for the third time this season following his strong showing at the Fort Hays State University Tiger Open.
Racing against a field comprised of Division I and II competitors, Brainerd finished sixth out of 102 runners with a season-best time of 25:04.12. His time is the best in the SCAC this season.
Colorado College was fourth in the eight-team field.
He shaved 24 seconds off the mark he set a week ago at the Oklahoma State University Cowboy Jamboree and is getting close to becoming only the fifth CC harrier to break the 25-munite mark for an 8K race.
The sophomore from Littleton, Colo., has led the Tigers at every event this season and posted four consecutive top-10 finishes.
Colorado College returns to action on Oct. 24 when the Tigers travel to Winfield, Kan., to defend their back-to-back team titles at the NAIA Mid-States Classic at Southwestern College.
