CC wins third straight Mid-States Classic

Colorado College tuned up for next week's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship by winning its third consecutive team title at the Southwestern College-NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.

The Tigers finished with 125, one fewer than Wayland Baptist University. Oklahoma Baptist University took third with 127 points, followed by Oklahoma Christian University with 129 and Lindenwood University with 133. There were 22 teams competing in the event and the top five were separated by just eight points.

Jackson Brainerd finished second overall in the field of 215 runners and was one of two Tigers who won head-to-head battles with their Wayland Baptist counterparts. Brainerd took second overall with a time of 25:11.57, which was 10.84 seconds faster than the time posted by Hilden Boen. David Wilder finished just 1.71 seconds ahead of Kirby Dunn in the battle for 32nd place.

Dan Kraft finished 17th overall in 26:07.30, while Andrew Wagner's time of 26:30.88 was good for 30th. Robby Caseria rounded out CC's scoring by placing 44th in a time of 26:52.05.

Oklahoma Christian's Silas Kisorio won the individual title in a time of 24:50.86.

The 2009 SCAC Championships will be held at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Ga.
