If one meet is any indication, Jordan DeGayner is destined to have another impressive season.
DeGayner won three individual events and swam the anchor leg on a winning relay team to lead the Colorado College men’s team to a 163-118 victory over Mesa State College in the season-opening meet on Saturday afternoon at CC’s Schlessman Natatorium.
DeGayner won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.72, the 200 butterfly in 2:12.93 and the 100 fly in 53.25. The most exciting event of the day was the 200 free relay in which DeGayner came from behind to give CC the victory by .24 seconds.
Jeff Nadel was part of three victories, winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.62 and the 200 back in 2:08.94. He started the day by swimming the leadoff leg on CC’s winning team in the 200 medley relay.
Tom Grossinger, also a part of the winning effort in the medley relay, became a triple winner by taking first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.31 and winning the 200 individual medley in 2:06.98 to lead the Tigers to a sweep in the event.
In his first collegiate meet, Tyler Larrabee was part of the winning medley relay team and then won 100 breast in a time of 1:04.60.
CC will be back in action next Saturday when Colorado School of Mines visits Schlessman Natatorium.
