Brainerd earns All-America honors at nationals

Jackson Brainerd capped an incredible sophomore season by earning All-America honors with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Division III national championship on Saturday. 

Brainerd covered the 8,000-meter course at the Highland Park Golf Course in Cleveland, Ohio, in a time of 25:54.70. He was only 4.5 seconds behind Allegheny's Chris Marker who finished in 14th place.

Colorado College took 25th place out of 32 teams with 557 points, 13 fewer than Manchester College.

Dan Kraft gave the Tigers two runners in the top 100 by finishing 91st overall in a time of 26:40.50.

Andrew Wagner's time of 27:11.80 was good for 164th place, while David Wilder came home in 202nd with a time of 27:33.70.

The best race of the day between two Tigers was won by Michael Dougan, who completed CC's scoring by finishing 248th in a time of 28:18.90, just 6.3 seconds ahead of Max Gerken who came home in 250th place.

Andrew Vierra was 275th with a time of 29:31.20.

North Central College won the team title by 131 points over Williams.

Lynchburg College's Ricky Flynn won the individual title with a time of 25:09.80.
