DeGayner named SCAC Swimmer of the Week

Jordan DeGayner was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimmer of the week for meets from Nov. 16 through Nov. 22 after winning all of his individual events at Wheaton College of Massachusetts and Tufts University.

During CC's 147-146 victory at Wheaton, DeGayner won the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.21), the 100 free (48.29), the 200 individual medley (2:01.60), and was part of a winning effort in the 400 medley relay, splitting 53.00 in the butterfly.

The following day at Tufts, DeGayner won the 200 free (1:45.56), the 200 butterfly (2:03.99) and 100 fly (54.11).

While some swimmers have one great meet, Jordan has consistently shown his ability and his competitiveness by staying undefeated in every event in all four of our meets so far this year,” Head Coach Anne Goodman James said. “No matter what the competition is like, Jordan steps up and makes it happen. At this point, we look forward to meets where he will be challenged even more, as I think it will push him to even better performances.”

DeGayner currently owns the team's season-best times in four individual events and as part of one relay team. The sophomore from Nokesville, Va., holds the school records in the 200 fly and 200 IM, and shares the record as part of relay teams in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

It is the first weekly honor for DeGayner this season and the second of his career.
