No NCAA bid for Tigers

CC learns the bad news late Monday

Despite finishing second in the Confererence USA standings and finishing the regular season with a five-game undefeated streak, Colorado College has been snubbed again in the NCAA selection process.

The Tigers, hopeful that they would earn one of 34 at-large bids to the national post-season tournament, learned on Monday evening that their 12-6-2 overall record did not get them into the 64-team field.

Thirty teams earned automatic berths by virtue of winning their conference playoffs, leaving open the 34 other spots to fill the bracket.

CC, which dropped a 1-0 decision to the University of Memphis in last Friday's C-USA semifinals, has posted more victories and suffered fewer losses this season than nine of the 64 teams that got in. In addition, 10 more teams that will be participating – making 23 in all – have won fewer games than the Tigers. Four others have suffered more defeats, bringing the total count in that category to 13.

Colorado College's last NCAA tournament appearance came in 2006, its first year as an affiliate member of C-USA. The Tigers previously earned eight consecutive bids from 1984 through 1991, reaching the national championship game in 1986 and 1989.
