Playing their final home game,
Jess Van Doren made eight saves and
Ali Zarlengo scored three goals to lead Colorado College to a 14-10 victory over the Colorado State University club team on Thursday night at Washburn Field.
Fellow senior Alexa Dougherty and freshman Leslie Jacoby each had a goal and assist during the final 4:13 as the Tigers used a 4-1 run to pull away from the reigning national club champions.
Colorado College built a 9-5 lead 3:01 into the second half after Claire Draudt and Bailey Terhune scored just 30 seconds apart, but the Tigers went scoreless for nearly 21 minutes after Zarlengo found the net with 24:52 remaining.
CC hit the post three times midway through the second half and drew iron a total of six times for the game.
CSU pulled to within 10-9 with 13:33 to play on the strength of a 5-1 run, but the Rams would score just one more time the rest of the game.
Kristin Rider paced the Tiger attack with two goals and three assists, while Maggie Defanti struck for a pair of goals.
Gioia Garden led the defensive effort with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Kristin Rider had a game-high four draw controls.
Ashley Gaume had four goals for CSU, while Lisa Long added three.
Annette Greenberg had eight saves for the Rams, including six during the second half when CC had a 21-13 advantage in total shots.
Colorado College finished the season with a 10-5 record.
