Three members of the Colorado College women's lacrosse team – Kristin Rider, Alexa Dougherty and Grace Maloney - were named to the 2009 all-West Region teams by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Rider earned first-team honors and is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America Teams. Dougherty and Maloney were second-team selections.
Rider was named to the first team for the second consecutive season after leading the Tigers with 35 goals and 47 points. The junior midfielder registered five goals and seven points in victories over the University of Redlands, Connecticut College and Regis University. She also scored a pair of game-winning goals.
At the defensive end, Rider led CC with 35 draw controls and was second with 28 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
Dougherty earned second-team honors for the second season in a row. The senior midfielder was fifth on the team with 17 goals and sixth with 19 points. On defense, she added 17 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers.
Maloney became the first Tiger to earn all-region honors as a freshman since Helen Sneath in 2003. The first-year attacker was second on the team with 29 goals and 42 points. Defensively, she paced CC with 30 ground balls, was second with 31 draw controls and tied for third with 11 caused turnovers.
Colorado College finished the 2009 campaign with a 10-5 record.
