Tigers earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

Both CC soccer programs excel in the classroom

Colorado College was one of 101 institutions nationwide, spanning all three NCAA divisions, to have both its men's and women's soccer programs earn the prestigious Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2008-09 school year.

The award recognizes all programs with a collective grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, on a 4.0 scale.

The CC men, who compete at the DIvision III level under head coach Horst Richardson, recorded a team GPA of 3.32 in '08-09. The Division I women's team, coached by Geoff Bennett, was honored after posting a 3.46 in the classroom.

A total of 582 teams – 337 women's and 145 men's – made the cut. Winners from the current academic year will be announced next January.
