Led again by
Brittney Moore and
Hannah Concannon, who claimed first and second place in the triple jump, Colorado College finished seventh on Saturday among 16 women's teams entered in the Dick Young Classic in Grinnell, Iowa.
Moore won the event with an effort of 34 feet while Concannon, who also took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16-9 3/4, followed close behind with a 33-7 1/2 in the event. In addition to winning the triple jump, Moore took eighth in the 800 meters with a clocking of 2:25.23 in CC's final tuneup for next weekend's Southern Colorado Athletic Conference championships.
The Lady Tigers scored high in the 5,000 meters as well, placing four runners among the top 19 finishers.
Devin Nadar (19:37.99) and Rebeccas Thompson (19:55.62) set the pace, taking fifth and sixth, respectively.
Louisa Tur (20:21.72) was 12th and
Charis Whitnah (21:29.54) 19th. The times for Nadar, Thompson and Whitnah all were personal records, while Tur's was a season best.
CC's Nicki Steinsiek was ninth in the both the 400 (1:02:31) and 800 meters (2:25.74).
Other highlights included a fifth-place showing in the 4x400 relay (4:19.55), along with impressive efforts in the 1,500 meters by
Maggie Ruble (5:21.52) and
Nina Roumell (5:31.92).
