Chris Kolodey, a junior defenseman for the Colorado College men's lacrosse team, was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for his performance during last weekend's road games in Ohio.
Kolodey grabbed three ground balls during the 17-9 loss at No. 11 Denison, and then caused three turnovers and had one ground ball in the 9-5 win at Wittenberg.
His strong defensive play was crucial as CC allowed just two even-strength goals against Wittenberg and killed five of eight man-down situations. The Tigers held an opponent to five or less goals for the sixth time this season.
Kolodey joins teammates Kyle Bishop (Feb. 23 and April 5), Brendan Haas (March 22), Zach Pierce (March 29) and Zach Hoisington (April 12) as recipients of the conference's weekly defensive honor.
Colorado College improved to 8-2 overall, 6-1 on the road, and completed its four-game tour of Ohio with a 3-1 record. Ironically, the Tigers defeated the two teams that beat Denison.
CC is idle until the first weekend of May when the Tigers face Sewanee and Hendrix College in Conway, Ark, in a pair of SCAC contests to close out the regular season.
