Colorado College set school records in four of six events on Saturday en route to its highest finish ever at the 2011 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Conroe Independent School District Natatorium.

The Tigers finished third with 542 points, just 35 more than Centre College. DePauw University won the men's title with 921 points, followed by Trinity University with 843.

Jordan DeGayner, who was named Swimmer of the Meet by the SCAC, claimed his third individual title with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle, coming home in an NCAA qualifying time of 45.66. He touched the wall .80 seconds ahead of Trinity's Aaron Shaver.

Flynn McGuire's time of 47.85 in the consolation final would have been good enough for sixth place had he earned a spot in the championship final. Michael Bennett finished 13th overall in 48.92

Devin Wahl cemented his position as the program's top distance swimmer after breaking CC's longest standing record, Tom Hackett's time of 17:02.58 in the 1,650 free which had stood since 1987. Wahl finished fifth in 16:50.28 for his second school record of the meet, while Kaleb Roush took ninth in 17:09.69.

Tom Grossinger broke his own school record in the 200 breaststroke by .97 seconds, finishing fourth in 2:07.87. Tyler Larrabee took seventh with an effort of 2:14.39.

In a time trial, Grossinger lowered his NCAA qualifying time in the 200 breast by .39 seconds to 57.21 and has a solid chance of earning a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Kevin Dorff delivered 17 valuable points in the 200 butterfly by taking third in a season-best time of 1:56.18. That effort was only .52 seconds off DeGayner's school record set in 2009.

Jeff Nadel's season-best clocking of 1:57.80 in the 200 backstroke was good for fifth place.

The Tigers closed out the meet with a school record in the 400 Free Relay. Dorff, Wahl, McGuire and DeGayner finished second with a time of 3:08.46 that shaved .53 seconds off the mark that was set at the 2009 SCAC Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.

Head coach Anne Goodman James, assistant coach Chris Sullivan and diving coach Ellen Walker was named Coaching Staff of the Year by the SCAC.
