Holmes helps Tigers sink McMurry

Freshman Emma Holmes won a pair of individual events and swam the anchor leg on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team to help Colorado College post a decisive 157-37 victory over McMurry University on Friday night at Schlessman Natatorium.

Holmes won the 200 free with a time of 2:07.12 and came back to claim the 100 free in 57.91.

Molly Brown and freshmen Danielle Wahl also recorded a pair of first-place finishes.

Brown took the 200 individual medley in 2:26.99 and the 100 backstroke in 1:06.23.

Wahl was victorious in the 1,000 free, touching the wall in 11:21.74, and then posted a season-best 1:03.02 while winning the 100 butterfly.

CC's other season best was provided by junior Nicole Fazio, who won the 1-meter diving with 447.22.

Sophomore Brenna Day added a victory in the 50 free, coming home in 25.40 to edge freshman Abby Sawyer by .40. Sawyer won the 100 breaststroke by a more than seven seconds with en effort of 1:12.75.

Colorado College and McMurry will go at it again at noon Saturday in the Tigers' final home meet of the 2011-12 season.
