Susan Stuart
Camp Director
Featured Instructor

The program's first and only varsity head coach, Susan Stuart has helped establish Colorado College as a perennial contender for an NCAA Division III playoff bid and a contender for a national championship.

Stuart, who has led the Tigers to a 167-89-1 (.652) overall record and seven NCAA Tournament Appearances during her 18 seasons at CC, was named West Region Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association in 2001, 2004 and 2005.

She came to CC in 1995 after spending the previous three years as a graduate assistant coach at James Madison University in Virginia. Earlier coaching experience included stints as an assistant at Roanoke College and Penn State University.

Stuart is a 1989 graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., where she earned her bachelors degree in English and Religious Studies and was an All-American goaltender in lacrosse. A native of Great Fall, Mont., she went on to attend graduate school at James Madison, receiving her master’s degree in kinesiology in 1994.

Still an active lacrosse player, she has been Canada’s starting goalkeeper for two World Cup competitions, in Edogawa, Japan (1997) and High Wycombe, England (2001), serving as team captain at the most recent tournament. She also was a member of the United States women's national team from 1989 through 1995, a period that saw her compete on tour against Canada in 1990, England in 1991 and Wales in 1995.

This summer, Stuart will serve as an assistant coach with Team Canada for the second time when the 2013 World Cup is played in Oshawa, Ontario, July 10-20.
